🌿Back to Nature PLAYcamp:
An Urban Forest Kindergarten

13 yearsInspiring children through sensory-rich, nature-based play

During school breaks, The Childhood Nature Project offers immersive, child-led outdoor experiences that nurture creativity, confidence, and meaningful connection. Our programs invite children to slow down, explore freely, and rediscover the joy of unstructured play in nature—supported by a team that understands child development, sensory needs, and the power of the outdoors.
Families seeking a nature-based alternative to traditional camps will find a thoughtful, developmentally grounded environment where children can grow at their own pace.

What Makes BACK TO NATURE PLAYcamp Unique?
Our school break offerings go far beyond outdoor play. Each day is intentionally UN-structured and our mentors take an intentional “step back,” offering support without directing the play. This approach gives children the freedom to imagine, experiment, and create from their own inner world sparkling imagination, developing friendships -and not-so friendships but "occasional collaborations", and support whole-child development through sensory-rich, nature-centered experiences.

Children thrive when they are given space to explore, imagine, and take the lead. Our environments are carefully prepared with open-ended materials, natural elements, and invitations for deep, meaningful play. Whether children are building shelters, creating imaginative worlds, or engaging in collaborative adventures, they are developing essential life skills while immersed in the beauty of the natural world.
At The Childhood Nature Project, we honor children’s autonomy, celebrate their strengths, and create opportunities for them to experience confidence, resilience, and joy.

Why Nature-Based Breaks Matter for Children in Full-Time School?
Research Highlights the Need for Rest, Regulation, and Reconnection

Children who attend full-time mainstream schools spend long hours navigating structured routines, academic expectations, sensory demands, and social dynamics. School breaks offer a powerful opportunity for them to decompress, restore balance, and strengthen essential developmental skills—especially when those breaks take place outdoors.
A growing body of research shows that nature-based, child-led play supports children in ways that traditional indoor programs cannot.
