At The Childhood Nature Project (TCNP), we connect families to meaningful experiences in nature. TCNP was founded in 2013 to offer parent-child nature-based programs in Miami local parks. Then known as Buzzy Kids, the organization brought families with young children together to learn in nature as part of a supportive community. Buzzy Kids was founded by Patricia Leon, a mom and the first certified Forest Kindergarten Teacher in South Florida by Cedarsong Nature School and the founder/director of Miami Nature Playschool.
In 2017, TCNP broadened its reach from direct programs to include education and advocacy work. We work to increase opportunities for all South Florida families to create meaningful connections with the natural world, themselves and each other through environmental education, advocacy, dissemination of information and nature-based programing. We care about the health of families and thus our efforts are focused on children, their parents and caregivers.
